Ministry at St Cross is supported by a licensed Reader, Mrs Linda Buckley.

Coronavirus / Covid-19

Since 19 July 2021, most legal restrictions introduced by the government to limit the spread of Covid-19 have been lifted. The advice, however, from the government and the Church of England, is to remain cautious and proceed with care. Public worship has been resumed at St Cross, and it is no longer necessary to ‘book’ a place in order to attend a service. We will, however, continue to ask for contact details in order to support NHS test and trace.

There will be a service at St Cross at 9.30AM on Sunday mornings, unless otherwise advised. This will usually be a service of Holy Communion. In order to make things as safe as we can, we currently ask the congregation to stay in their place to receive communion, and administer it in the form of a wafer only; we are not currently sharing wine. We have returned to singing hymns, but ask the congregation to remain seated and to sing at a reduced volume in other to limit the spread of aerosols.

For further information about how we are making our worship Covid-secure, please get in touch.

We will be live-streaming worship on the St Matthew’s church Facebook page (facebook.com/stmatthewschurchstretton). This service at St Matthew’s, also usually a service of Holy Communion, begins at 10.45AM

  1. Good afternoon

My name is Ashley Smith and I work for the council and as my signature below explains I manage the Information Advice and Guidance team within Warrington Borough Council.

We have developed a website/database which holds a wide variety of impartial information for people of all ages this is called My Life Warrington http://www.mylifewarrington.co.uk

    The website holds information regarding;-
    • Support services for families, such as parenting ,Children Centre Services and family support
    • Positive activities such as dance, gymnastics, music groups, reading groups and crafting groups
    • Also support services for adults such as nursing homes, residential homes and dementia groups
    • We list Childcare Providers such as nurseries, pre-schools and child minders

There is also advice on the website regarding
    • What is a nursing home, what is a residential home, what is support living
    • What is a Children Centre and what services does it offer
    • How to look for childcare, what is a nursery, what is child-minding and what is the financial entitlement regarding childcare

The above is a very small snapshot of what the website http://www.mylifewarrington.co.uk is capable of and the information it holds

The reason for my email is that I invite you to have a look on http://www.mylifewarrington.co.uk and see if your faith based organisation would like to take advantage of this free advertising and go on as an organisation and promote your services to the Warrington Community.

I am aware that your information is in the public domain but in order to assist me in creating a robust directory of services, which is accessible to all from one single portal, I look forward to your engagement.

By having this single portal the young mum suffering loneliness and isolation, the widower, who has lost his partner of 60 years, the young person who feels they have no one to turn to or the family who are experiencing crippling debt and need support with food and other essentials can be helped by professionals working with them by maybe accessing My Life Warrington which promotes all this information in one place for ease of access.

I am eager to promote this service to you to enable you to promote all the services that you offer

I am currently due to attend the Churches Together meeting in September at Bethany Church and if you will be there it will be lovely to meet you.

If your church holds a similar meeting I would be very grateful if you could extend to me an invite so that I may come and talk to you about My Life Warrington, show you around http://www.mylifewarrington.co.uk and explain the benefits of this free advertising .

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions
